  I have been working off and on with the vector.library.
But have not got it working.  I have the vector lib modules in E.

One answer to this, for those that can do it, is to set up another
email address for AmigaE and hvae the mail sent to that address. A lot
of users here are doing this I've noticed, with all the AmigaE-List@...
addresses I have in the subscriber list.

This may not solve your problem, Dave, but I thought I'd suggest it.

Hello everybody, I'm new to E,  and  this  list. I've been reading the E
list archives on Aminet which have been very helpful, but I hope you can
help me with some questions (problems)  I've  got. I only came by AmigaE
26 days ago, and already  programming  half  decent programs. I'm taking
electronic engineering, and one of the leture courses was programming in
C. Since this was on PC's I  have  little  idea  of how to use the Amiga
libraries apart from what I've picked  up  along the way. I've looked at
the examples, and with  the  help  of  the  GFA  Basic  book (it has 1.3
library names, and a short  blurb  about  each function), and the AmigaE
list I've managed  to  write  several  simple  DOS  utils  and  a simple
intuition thing based on SpriteExample.e,  but  I don't use sprites, and
it's not an example! :-)

Heres the questions..(I've been saving them up)

1. What is the best way to clear a window. I've used ClearScreen, but it
crashes the machine a treat once you  start moving screens about. In GFA
Basic I used:

CLEARW #1

2. I've tried to make EModules  from the Medplayer progmas, and include,
but I got an error from Pragma2Module,  and OctaMed does not come with a
.i file, but a .h file (C definitions). Pragma2Module the output:

Amiga E Pragma2Module by $#%! in 1992
converting: "libproto.h"
Base will be: medplayerbase
Correct name of this library (with the ".library" or ".device"):
 >medplayer.library
found 1 empty or private functions before -66.
Pragma file format error!

but does seem to make an EModule  which looks similar to the others with
the correct names. The .h is needed in the examples, but do *I* need it?
How can I convert it to a .i?

3. I'd like to get the full path of the current directory (from the root
directory), Newlist (a dir util program)  does this (even CD does!), but
D (Wouter's directory program) doesn't.  Also  is  there a better way of
getting the disk name of a specified directory/device than :

and if the user asks  for  bla:  and  it's  not mounted the standard req
comes up, anyway of cancelling this?  Sometimes something happens to the
system and it stops the  requesters  as  if  the  user clicked on cancel
could I make it  do  this?, or  better  still... How do I get a list  of
mounted devices?

4. I've written a  very  simple  direct  to  disk  sampler  (goes into a
buffer, and when it's full is  then  saved  to  disk), however I want to
view the samples graphically (I  don't  know  enough  to be able to hear
them yet). The  main  problem  is  that  once  I  subtract  129 from the
incoming numbers (at addr $bfe105 - bad programming I know - I don't even
setup the port to receive mode) to get the needed positive/negative numbers
for IFF samples and save them to disk, I can't do the opposite (i.e. Add
129) to get the 0-255  (or  -128  to  129)  range  of numbers that I can
easily plot as they are now  positive  numbers  from  0 to 255 in an odd
order, i.e. Upside down for half of  the numbers. Someone out there must
know what I mean..could they help?  I didn't even realise until recently
how the samples where held. I  wrote  elabrate procedures to convert the
0-256 number from my  sampler  to  the  values  needed  for IFF using IF
statements!!!

5. Why does this code produce  a  'recoverable  error' when run with the
following line:
1.> ReadArgsTest dest
I know that it isn't the corrct usage of args but it shouldn't mess up.

6. Last question (told you I've been  saving  them  up), how do I draw a
filled boxed, in GFA Basic I would do:

COLOR col                 ! Set the colour
PBOX x,y,dx,dy            ! Draw a filled box with current patten set

I would be eternally grateful if some one could answer these (relativily
simple, compared to what you  normally  talk about) questions. Thanks in

ps. My computer setup : I  have  a  standard A1200 (OS3) with 170Meg HD,
and Trilogic stereo sampler, and a  2400  baud modem. I don't mind using
OS2 specific library calls (sorry 1.3  users),  so  don't go out of your
way to make the answers work on any machine if you can't be bothered to.
Keep a watch on Aminet (dev/e) for some of my programs (once I've worked
out how to upload).
